Jasper is the terminus of two Rocky Mountaineer Routes, each with quite infrequent service from the for profit rail touring company. Trains operate only between the end of April and the beginning of October. For the 2012 season the Journey Through the Clouds (Kicking Horse) Route from Vancouver via Kamloops is scheduled to run twice a week, arriving in Jasper on Saturdays and Wednesdays departing on Sundays and Thursdays. The Rainforest to Gold Rush (Fraser Discovery Route) from Whistler via Quesnel runs just once a week arriving on Tuesdays and departing on Wednesdays. When trains layover in the station overnight they can be clearly seen from town in the quite photographers accessible rail yard.
